Supporting someone you care about

Take changes in behavior or talk about suicide seriously. You do not have to handle the situation alone.

Signs someone may need support

  • Talking about hopelessness, being a burden, or wanting to die
  • Withdrawing from friends, family, or usual activities
  • Major changes in mood, sleep, behavior, or substance use
  • Giving away belongings or saying goodbye

How you can respond

  • Listen calmly and without judgment.
