Eating Disorders

Anyone can suffer from an eating disorder. Luckily, a path to recovery is possible!

Overview

“Eating disorders involve serious disturbances in eating behaviors, such as extreme and unhealthy reduction of food intake or severe overeating, as well as feelings of extreme concern about body shape or weight. Eating disorders do not discriminate between ages, genders, socioeconomic statuses, sexual orientations, body shape and size, races, and ethnicities. Eating disorders include Anorexia Nervosa, Bulimia Nervosa, Binge Eating Disorder, Other Specified Feeding or Eating Disorder, Avoidant/Restrictive Food Intake Disorder, and PICA.

Eating Disorders are complex biopsychosocial illnesses that have serious emotional and physical consequences. While 60% of the contributing factors stem from a genetic component, genes alone do not predict who will develop an eating disorder. …Full recovery from an eating disorder is possible. Early detection and intervention are important.” https://www.allianceforeatingdisorders.com/
